Normally a trip home from back East takes around 7 total hours of traveling. Today I think I was either traveling in a car or a plane for over 12 hours. Now, if I were going to Paris, 12 hours is nothing. But coming home from the panhandle of Florida shouldn’t take so long. We had gear and rental cars to drop off, but the main delay came on the tarmac of Houston International Airport. After pulling away from the gate and taxiing to the edge of the runway, our plane had to be “tugged” back to the gate for a maintenance issue. We learned that both sets of brakes had to be replaced before heading back out. After 3 hours of sitting on the plane at the gate, the plane finally headed out to the runway, and after another weather delay, finally made it into the air, and back home a few hours later.
I’m exhausted! I had a great time in Florida, but it’s great knowing I’ll be sleeping in my own bed tonight. Here’s another random shot out of my window on the trip home taken with my iPhone:

And here’s another iPhone shot of a little boy sitting in the seat in front of me, enamored with the view outside his window. I overheard his Mom saying it was his first flight.

It’s good to be home!
